#30 Fights Motors Issues in last race

Mark Caise Motorsports showed up to the Waterford Speedbowl 2009 Finale with their #30 Mini Stock on the second day of competition. They skipped Saturday practice and qualifying and run just the feature. Things went south real quick as the motor would not get up to speed. Luckily their were many cautions will allowed the crew (my dad and Glenn) to work on the car, at one point even changing all the spark plugs out. Finally the motor gave way and wouldn't run after 34 laps, or over 1 hour if you looked at your watch during the caution filled event. However, even if we did run all the laps we would have ran out of gas so it was not looking good either way. We were down on power, not sure why and couldn't get anywhere up to speed like we wanted too. We had high hopes coming into the event but it wasn't meant to be.

It was later found that a faulty connector broke inside of its location, causing the only power getting to the spark plugs to be in an arc form, so it was not getting constant power connection like an engine should get, the fact that it even started and drove for as long as it did is pretty impressive.

A big thanks to my Dad for all the work he put into the car this season, and to my sponsors Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts of Groton, CT and to Sunset Welding and Glenn Estes for all the setups and making the car fast (when I didn't wreck or break it), and to Ashaway Performance Engines of Ashaway, RI.

#30 Getting Ready for the Finale at Waterford

Mark Caise Motorsports will field the #30 Mini Stock this Sunday at the Waterford Speedbowl as part of the NASCAR Whelen All American Series action for the final race at the Waterford Speebowl in 2009. The car will be on chassis plates on Thursday, also the team will forgo the Saturday practice and qualifying. The Finale at Waterford will mark the 3 year anniversary of the teams first stock car win during the 2006 Town Fair Tire Finale. Primary and Associate sponsorship opportunities are still available for this race, please contact Mark Caise at MarkCaiseMotorsports@Comcast.net if interested.

The team missed the Stafford Mini Stock event as they were unable to attend on Sunday afternoon.

#30 Pre-Race

Mark Caise Motorsports is currently working on an agreement to have primary sponsorship to run the Finale at Waterford on Sunday October 11th, this primary sponsorship will be for the Sunday 50 lap mini stock race only, as the #30 team will forgo Saturday practice and qualifying as they already have a guaranteed spot in the feature. Associate sponsorship opportunities are still available for this race, please contact Mark Caise at MarkCaiseMotorsports@Comcast.net if interested.

Mark Caise Motorsports did enter a #30 Sunset Welding mini stock for the Stafford Fall Final for October 3rd, the event is expected to be rained out as a conflict in schedules for MCM did occur with events in New Hampshire. The #30 Sunset Welding team will evaluate the situation on Monday 10/5 and decided if it will continue to field an entry for Stafford if a rain date is presented by track officials.

#30 Race Review

Mark Caise Motorsports ran the #30 Mini Stock for the fifth time this season tonight at the Waterford Speedbowl. After a strong performance last time out the #30 was hoping to build on that with some suspension and engine changes.

While we did have a faster car then the week before we struggled to keep the car handling well. In practice we fought with the car wheel hoping in the turns, after we got that fixed we set the car up for what we thought the track would do as it got even colder out as night fell. We did manage to get faster, running our fastest lap of the night in the feature event, however the changes we made weren't enough and we missed the setup. It drove very awful and pushed from lap 1 and couldn't even get into the throttle until on the straightaways because it was pushing so bad. We managed stay with the pack somehow but had nothing for them in the 25 caution free laps we ran.

Our next race date is unknown at this point, as both crew and driver have other events for the last few races of the season. We are still looking for a Thompson rear-end, wheels & tires, and headers to run the last weekend at Thompson as a Mini Stock, not an outlaw. If you have any of those parts and would like to lease or sell them to the #30 for the weekend please contact me at MarkCaiseMotorsports@comcast.net.

Thunder On The Sound Review

Mark Caise Motorsports brought the #30 Mini Stock out for the fourth time this year at Waterford. The goal was to get a top ten finish. We started last because of lack of races this year, and it was ok as we worked our way thru the field with a fast car. The race had yellows and worked into our favor except for the fact that every restart we were on the outside lane. The car wasn't that great up there but we made it work. We got into one little mix up when the #6 car came back across the track and we t-boned him in the door and then we got hit from the rear from the #82, who like me had nowhere to go, but somehow didn't have any damage on our car. After that we raced up to eighth place and was ready to re-pass the cars in front of me until I got caught up racing a slower car that did everything to keep me behind them and managed to take us both out of solid top ten runs. We ran out of time at that point while racing down the cars on the tail end of the lead lap and finished a disappointing 15th, which does not do us justice for how good we really were.

A big thanks goes out to my dad and Glenn Estes of Sunset Welding Racecar Fabrication who gave the car an awesome setup, and to Norm Perry of Ashaway Performance Engines who is helping us get more power out of the motor each time we go to the track. Our next date to race is still undetermined.

Thunder On The Sound

Mark Caise Motorsports will field the #30 Mini Stock this Saturday in the Thuner On The Sound presented by the Connecticut National Guard. This will be the first race for the #30 since the July 4th Pepsi 300. We plan to run more competitive this Saturday as we have taken almost two months off using that time for Research and Development.

Wednesday July 22, 2009
Not Running Tonight

The #30 Mini Stock has withdrawn its entry into tonight's Business After Hours NASCAR Whelen All American Series Wednesday Night Special at the Waterford Speedbowl. After continuing to battle fuel delivery and carb issues it would be a waste of time to bring the car and continue to fight with it all night. We plan to return to racing on Saturday August 8th when the car is more competitive.

Monday July 6, 2009
Not a great Pepsi 300

Good news is we finished the race, one lap down but we finished. We thought we would have been faster but we just weren't. It was found after the race that the cords in the new left front tire had come apart. The tire did not contact the track properly and that cost us alot in the turns. We will return to the Speedbowl for the Wed night event.

Wednesday July 1, 2009
Ready for the Pepsi 300

We are getting the finishing touches done to the #30 Mini Stock to be ready for our longest race of the year this Saturday, the Pepsi 300, which our division will be racing 50 Laps. This past weekend we had issue after issue that started in practice with the fuel pump breaking. A big thanks has to go out to the #11 crew of Ken Cassidy Jr and his car owner Ken Cassidy Sr for giving us a fuel pump so we could continue on for the day.

After the fuel pump issue was fixed we broke a sway bar bolt.

The in the heat race the fan and radiator finally went and the car got very hot very quick near the end. We wanted to start the race with the intention of pulling in after the first lap, however the car wasn't getting as hot as in the heat race so we stayed out a big longer hoping that major some cautions would give us a better finishing spot. By the second caution it was getting a bit hot so in an effort to save our new motor we pulled off the track and finished 16th.

We will have a new radiator and fan in the car for this weekend and if it stays cool enough we feel we have a very good shot at winning the race. Our car only gets better the longer we run and hope that a 50 lap will be long enough for us to hold pace better then the rest of the pack. We have a fast car, I feel we can qualify in the top 5 and if we can just get some luck on our side we will run good.

Did you know...

On Saturday June 13, 2009 was the first, and only time, the Mark Caise Motorsports #30 did not go the victory lane on June 13th at the Waterford Speedbowl. Also this upcoming Saturday June 20, Mark Caise Motorsports went to victory lane in the #30 X-Car... while they might have been fast enough for a win on 6/13/09 luck was not on their side, hopefully 6/20/09 brings back some of their winning ways, as they are still undefeated on the 20th of June.

Tuesday June 16, 2009

We had a pretty bad first week out for 2009. It started off great being fourth fastest overall in both practice sessions and being the second fastest in the heat race. However about 7 laps into the heat race car 30 would find the wall about 3/4 of the way down the back stretch. The cause of the wreck is still unknown as it took a dead right turn for the outside wall without warning. The hit was pretty hard head on as it lifted the wheels off the ground before the car came to rest at the top of turn 3. All parts on the suspension and steering parts checked out to not be the cause.

We cut out most of the car on Sunday, bent the car back to the right place on Monday and on Tuesday were able to fit the hoop and lower cow catcher. The bumper and such will be place on Thursday night as well as the car will go to the chassis plates for set up prep to race on Saturday June 20th. The car was fast and we hope the get it back to were it was, it was def a top 5 car this past weekend. With a little more tweaking we might just have a top 1 car. Motor has so far checked out with flying colors :). Below are some pics from after the wreck until 10pm Tuesday night. See you all on Saturday.

Big thanks to my Dad (Crew Chief) and Glenn (Car Chief) from Sunset Welding for getting my car back together so quickly.

Sunday June 7, 2009

The car has been placed back together and will be going to paint on Tuesday morning with sponsor decals to be placed on Tuesday night. We are prepping the car for a possible Thursday practice to get some heat in the new tires and to race this Saturday June 13. Below are some pictures before paint.

Friday June 5, 2009

Well this site hasn't been updated in a very long time, and for good reason, just too busy with everything else going on in my life. But after a good practice run on April 25 we tweaked with the car a bit more and went out to practice yesterday June 4.

We made a minor adjustment on the front end after our first run and the car was great. It handled awesome and was fast, I was happy with it. Glenn Estates would drive the car in the third session to get a feel for what I liked and what he thought of the setup.

I was going to put it on the trailer when I saw we could get in one more run so I thought since I was having issues with turn 1 I would go out for another run to work on my line. That lasted two laps before the throttle hung open going into turn 1 and I backed it into the wall.

It never fails I get the car perfect and I end up in the wall :(... guess its just my luck with this car.

We will not be racing this Saturday but as of now plan on racing either June 12 or June 19. The car should be fixed by early next week. If anyone out there has a left rear bumper cover for a Mustang please let me know, it doesn't have to be perfect but at least something I can part from because we are running on a low budget and don't want to spend money on body pieces if we don't have to. Thanks.

Saturday April 25, 2009

We are not racing today, however we did bring the #30 out to practice on Thursday with much success. We definitely took the award for most laps run in the session, having run 70+ laps at speed. The new motor ran well, had a throttle issue but will get that resolved. The chassis is much better then it was last year, and we have a very good starting point. We ran laps consistently that were much faster then what we ran last year. Our speeds would put us easy top ten, possibly late top five in a race. We will put the car on scales again, get some new tires and give it a go again before our first scheduled race of June 6th. Below our some pics from Thursday.

Friday April 17, 2009

We are not racing this Saturday, April 18th. Our next scheduled date to race at the Speedbowl is now Saturday June 6th.

Sunday April 5, 2009

Well racing was canceled. Which kinda sucked for us because we at least wanted to run practice and a heat race just to get some laps on the car before we race so we know the motor works, wheels turn, and that we remembered to bolt everything back up. The weather held off for us to do all that but ohh well. We do plan to run next week and then take it on a week by week basis from then on out. See you all at the track next weekend.

Tuesday March 31, 2009

Well this weekend is suppose to be very nice out. We were not scheduled to run this weekend because of a schedule conflict, however, we at the moment have solved this conflict and we plan to practice and qualify for the Mini Stock race this weekend at the Waterford Speedbowl running with the #30 and Chassis #008.

We wanted to run the final day (Sunday) of the Budweiser Modified Nationals, however it rained out. We are currently searching our options for still running that race because we still have a 2008 owners provisional, and technically that is the first race of 2009 which allows for the 2008 provisional to be used. Even though this Saturday will be the first point paying race, it is still technically the second race of the season because qualifying is already complete for the Budweiser Modified Nationals.

So here is our updated schedule for 2009

Saturday April 4th, Mini Stock, Waterford Speedbowl

Saturday April 11th, Mini Stock, Waterford Speedbowl

Monday March 30, 2009

Well the Budweiser Modified Nationals got rained out for Sunday. The #30 was not at the track this weekend because I got pretty sick and there was alot of other stuff going on away from the track that it was in our best interest to not go. I was feeling alot better Saturday night and if the weather was clear on Sunday we were ready to bring the car down for the feature, however, it was raining. We plan to attempt to race this Saturday, however with my work schedule and such this may not happen, but we will give it a try considering we will most likely not be racing much near the end of April and almost all of May.

The web site hasn't been getting updated as often as I would like, and I apologize for that, but I have been hard at work making alot of stuff for the Speedbowl, and I have been trying to get my new site up and running, which will replace this one. I'm just not quite done with it yet to launch it.
